Connections Coaching and Somatic Touch Therapy

You deserve thriving relationships and community.

How are you going to get there?

Embrace Connections offers 1-1 support to overcome personal challenges and blockages, and learn to connect better with others.

What are Connection Coaching and Somatic Touch Therapy?

This is hands-on, solutions-focused work helps you understand yourself and improve the way you connect and relate with others. It includes somatic, embodiment, touch and movement-based practices and coaching techniques.

These are two names for a modality that combines embodied somatic work, therapeutic touch and coaching techniques to support people with their personal and relational challenges. On this page, I will use the term Connection Coaching for simplicity.

How does it work?

Movement and touch highlight important qualities in ourselves and how we relate using the felt sense. You can feel what works and what doesn’t work. This is a very powerful tools for non-physical, relational aspects of our lives as well. Lessons from these practices apply directly to our lives and our relationships.

Connection Coaching uses physical practices, somatic methods and coaching techniques to improve human connection.

Connection Coaching practices are drawn from Dance, Contact Improv, AcroYoga, partner acrobatics, natural movement, yoga, meditation, nervous system regulation, embodiment, somatics, tantra, Wheel of Consent, Authentic Relating, Circling, Non Violent Communication and more.

Sessions are founded on consent. The mix of activities and where we go with them is uniquely tailored to your needs and boundaries.

An example session

We open with grounding embodiment exercises to drop in to our bodies, the space, the dynamic, and the session. For example, guided solo movement, simple breathwork, a hug.

We begin by reviewing our goals. What problems does the client want to work on? And agreeing on a selection of a selection of activities, depending on their needs. For example:

  • Led and followed movement to investigate expectations and communication
  • Games with clear parameters to delve into specific patterns and stories like boundaries and expressing needs
  • Trust-based activities to understand physiological responses build a sense of safety
  • Dance or play-based activity to provoke and unpack underlying attachment or identy issues

We then work methodically through the activities, reviewing and reflecting as we go, and extracting lessons to take back to the real world.

We set specific “homework” tasks based on these lessons, to be reviewed next session.

We close with an embodiment meditation to integrate the experience in the body.

Practicalities

The first step is a free 30 minute intro call to talk though the specifics for your circumstances.

The first coaching session includes assessment, goal setting, and some initial experiments to establish suitable ways of working.

In the second session, we will agree on a full strategy and begin working on specific challenges and barriers. The second and all subsequent sessions include relational activities, somatic assessment, task setting (“homework”) and review.
